Singer-actor Kim Hyun-joong has sold over 100,000 copies of his first solo album released just two weeks ago, announced his agency KEYEAST on Wednesday. The figure, from Korea’s largest record sales chart Hanteo, makes Kim the solo K-pop artist with the highest number of record sales seen with a single album so far this year. He ranks after boy bands TVXQ and Big Bang when the groups are included."Break Down," which is Kim's first solo mini-album that went on sale on June 8 in Korea's neighboring countries in the Asia region including China, Japan and Taiwan, is made up of six tracks including the title track “Break Down,” “Please,” "Kiss Kiss” and “Yes I Will.” Hanteo had placed the album at No. 1 on its real-time and daily charts a week ago and the album’s title song “Break Down” came atop two televised live music shows including music cable channel Mnet’s “M! CountDown” and KBS’ “Music Bank” over the weekend. Kim, 25, made his debut as the leader of the popular boy band SS501 in 2005. He expanded his career into acting with a role in KBS’ smash hit series “Boys Over Flowers” in 2009, which made him a household name in Korea and Asia. The following year, he starred in another small screen adaptation of the Japanese comic “Itazura na Kiss," in which he played the role of Baek Sung-jo.※ Any copying, republication or redistribution of 10Asia's content is expressly prohibited without prior consent of 10Asia.
