Top Korean actor Lee Byung-hun will star in his next Hollywood picture, being cast in the upcoming sequel to the action film “RED.”
BH Entertainment announced through a press release on Friday that Lee will be joining the ensemble cast of Hollywood A-listers -- Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren -- in "RED 2."
In the sequel, also starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, the retired CIA operatives (Wilis, Malkovich and Mirren) will be fighting against a new set of enemies all across Europe.
"RED 2," set to hit theaters in the United States on August 2, 2013, will be directed by Dean Parisot with the screenplay by Erich and John Hober, who penned the first installment.
It will be produced by Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Mark Vahradian from DiBonaventura Pictures while Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s president of production Erik Feig will oversee for the studio alongside Summit Entertainment's Senior Vice President of Production, Geoff Shaveitz.
Lee Byung-hun, one of Korea's most well-recognized actors and a household name in Japan, made his Hollywood debut through “G.I. Joe" by playing Storm Shadow in 2009.
He is waiting for the release of "G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra," where he reprised his role as Storm Shadow.
