Top Korean female idols KARA has become the first foreign artist in the history to place in first on two of Japan's Oricon charts.
On Tuesday, Oricon's official website showed that KARA's "KARA BESTCLIPS II & SHOWS," which went on sale in the country on February 29, have both ranked at No. 1 on its overall DVD and Bluray sales chart.
This makes KARA the first foreign artists to place atop two charts at once and the fifth after Japanese singers' same records, including Amuro Namie, AKB48, Mr. Children and RADWIMPS.
"KARA BESTCLIPS II & SHOWS" consists of the music video to their single "Jet Coaster Love" and clips from their fan meeting at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama last August.
KARA, composed of members Gu Hara, Han Seung-yeon, Park Gyu-lee, Kang Ji-young and Nicole, is currently one of the most successful Korean girl groups to break into the Japanese market.
The girls will release their Japanese maxi single "SPEED UP/Girls Power" on March 21 and hold their "KARASIA" tour in Japan next month.
