Korean movie “Love Fiction” stood atop of the local box office chart on the first weekend of March, just a few days after it made its debut on February 29.

Starring actors Ha Jung-woo and Kong Hyo-jin, the romantic comedy film led the chart by drawing in 867,819 moviegoers and dominating 37.5 percent of the weekend box office ticket sales, just five days after its release, according to KOBIS (Korea Box Office Information System) on Monday.

Ha plays the role of Goo Joo-wol, a novelist who falls into a slump but gets rescued by the love of a film distributor employee, Lee Hee-jin (Kong). While in love, Goo fictionalizes his relationship with Lee on a yellow paper and the story goes on by showing the change of a man’s emotion from the beginning of the relationship to the end.

Making its premiere on the same day as "Love Fiction," Hollywood movie “This Means War,” starring Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine, followed next by pulling in 212,506 admits and occupying 13.9 percent of the total ticket sales.

In the meantime, former winner “War on Crime: the Golden Age of Bad Guys” was pushed to the No. 3 spot with 194,753 tickets sold with "Howling," the runner-up of last week, in the No. 4 spot with 103,286 admissions.

Other movies in the top ten list include “Man on the Ledge,” “Safe House,” “Act of Valor,” “Dancing Queen,” Legends of Valhalla - THOR” and “Hugo” in order.
