SBS drama “Sign” finished its run last night after leading the Wednesdays and Thursdays’primetime TV chart for seventh consecutive week, as reported by two major media research companies on Friday.
“Sign” scored an average viewership rating of 21 percent on Total National Multimedia Research’s (TNmS) chart and 25.4 on AGB Nielsen Media Research’s (AGB) poll which is the highest mark among all other episodes the series aired and also the first time it breached the 20 percent mark on two media charts at the same time.
A 20-part medical series starring Park Shin-yang, Kim A-joong, Uhm Ji-won and Jung Gyu-woon, the drama ended with Yoon’s death as he sacrificed himself to create evidence in his body for a murder in an attempt to arrest psychopath Kang Seo-yeon (Hwang Seon-hee).
His resolve was later backed up by his junior examiner Ko Da-kyung (Kim) who performs his autopsy, inspector Choi Yi-han (JUng) who discovers a recorded video in his room and prosecutor Jung Woo-jin (Uhm) who then arrests Kang.
A fantasy-melodrama titled “49 Days,” starring Nam Kyu-ri and Lee Yo-won, will take the place of "Sign" starting next week.
The drama is about a soul trapped between life and death trying to win the tears of three people who will cry for her in order to come back to life.
MBC’s “Royal Family” starring Yum Jung-ha, Kim Young-ae and Ji Sung came in second on TV charts after posting average viewership ratings of 6.7 percent and 8.2 percent on TNmS and AGB's findings, respectively.
In this week’s episode, JK Group’s daughter Jo Hyun-jin (Cha Ye-ryun) learns that it was her sister-in-law In-sook (Yum) who sponsored JK's family lawyer Han Ji-hoon (Ji Sung) and threatens In-sook with her knowledge of it.
KBS’ series “The Thorn Birds,” starring Han Hye-jin, Kim Min-jung and Joo Sang-uk, came in last, after yielding an average viewership rating of 6.6 percent on both TNmS and AGB’s reports.
In last night’s episode, Young-jo (Joo) finds out that it was Yoo-kyung (Kim) who spilled Ae-rin’s (Cha Hwa-yeon) secrets while Yoo-kyung discovers she is pregnant with Young-jo’s child.
