TVXQ's new single tops Oricon chart

Boy band TVXQ's new single "BREAK OUT!" has topped Japan's Oricon daily singles chart the day of its release.

The group's 29th single album, released Wednesday, sold close to 170,000 copies to top the prestigious chart, easily beating out No. 2 L'Arc En Ciel who sold 33,000 copies of their single titled "BLESS."

They plan on releasing their first best album titled "Best Selection 2010" sometime next month.

TVXQ, who debuted in 2004 with the single "Hug", became popular not only in Korea but other Asian countries as well. Their singing career in Japan has been a success in particular -- last year, they became the first foreign artist to top the Oricon singles charts six times with their 27th single "Share the World/We are!"

Despite speculation that the group may disband with three of the five members being involved in a legal dispute with their agency SM Entertainment, TVXQ has continued their activities in Japan.
