INFINITE L's Japanese drama rakes in high viewership ratings

A new Japanese TV series, starring L of boy band INFINITE, has scored high viewership ratings amongst its competitors on the same time slot. According to a press release from Lune Communications, "Jiu: Keishichou Tokushuhan Sousakei," based on the manga by Japanese novelist Honda Tetsuya, recorded viewership ratings of 9.4 percent during its first episode which aired on July 29. The second episode of "Jiu" ranked in at the No. 1 spot on its Friday night timeslot with viewership ratings in the ten percent mark. "I felt that I had to give it my all since this is my first time starring in a drama," L was quoted as saying during an interview with a local Japanese newspaper. "It is hard working on a series but I feel that the long hours I spent practicing my dance moves has helped out a lot." "Jiu" tells the story of two female detectives named Motoko (played by Japanese actress Meisa Kuroki) and Misaki (Mikako Tabe) who work under a special investigation team. The two detectives work together to track down the criminal Jiu (L). L, whose real name is Kim Myung-soo, made his debut as one of the main vocalist in seven-member boy band INFINITE in 2010. The group has released a number of hit songs such as "Come Back Again," "BTD (Before the Dawn)" and "Nothing's Over."
