“One Thousand Days” bows into No. 1 on Gaon chart

Songstress Ok Ju-hyeon’s rendition of “One Thousand Days” was placed atop the weekly Gaon singles chart during the week of May 29 to June 4. The love ballad originally sung by singer Lee Seung-hwan in 1995, was re-performed by Ok on MBC’s music reality show “I’m A Singer” aired on May 29. Coming in next was teenage singer IU’s first self-composed song “Take My Hand” which went up five slots from the previous week. The song from the soundtrack of ongoing MBC series “The Greatest Love” starring Cha Seung-won and Kong Hyo-jin, features a modern rock tune based on the sounds of an acoustic guitar. With the emergence of the above two songs, the winner of the previous chart “If You Are Like Me” by Kim Yeon-woo, slid down two steps to settle at No. 3. The song, also performed on the aforementioned MBC music show on May 22, originally belongs to singer Kim Jang-hoon released it in 1998. On albums chart, boy band BEAST ascended to the top with their first full-length album “Fiction and Fact,” after climbing a step from the past week. The album contains a total of 10 songs including the title track “Fiction” and “On Rainy Days,” about sad loves which both have topped the music chart of public broadcaster KBS’ live music show “Music Bank.”FTIsland’s mini-album “RETURN,” which was the previous topper, swapped places with BEAST to take second place this time. The album which celebrates the four-member rock band’s comeback to the local music scene after pursuing a singing career in Japan for nearly a year, features a total five tracks including the title track “Hello Hello” which is a fast-beat rock tune. Meanwhile, girl group T-ara returned on the chart, at No. 3, with their existing repackaged album “Break Heart” that was released in February of last year.
