Cheorwon County in Gangwon Province announced on March 3 that the Cheorwon Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail surpassed 3 million tourists on March 1, just 4 years and 4 months after its opening.

According to Cheorwon County's tourism statistics, since its opening on November 19, 2021, the Columnar Jointing Trail has recorded a cumulative total of 3,000,842 visitors and approximately 22.45 billion won in ticket revenue. In addition, the exchange amount for the Cheorwon Love Gift Certificate, which is considered to have greatly contributed to revitalizing the local economy, reached about 10.9 billion won.
The Cheorwon Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail has a total length of 3.6 km and was created to allow visitors to enjoy the unique cliffs and columnar joints of the Hantangang River, which is certified as a UNESCO Global Geopark, up close. The trail has received great acclaim from tourists, as visitors can appreciate the beautiful natural scenery-autumn foliage in the fall, snow and ice in the winter, and wildflowers in the spring-all harmonizing with the columnar joints of the Hantangang River.
