Singer Lee Sangmin recalled the group assault incident that took place in the late 1990s.
On March 2, Lee Sangmin appeared on the YouTube show "Jjanhanhyung" alongside Tak Jaehun and Kim Junho, where he explained the brawl that occurred at the time. While discussing an argument that took place at a drinking party in the 1990s, Lee remarked, "The most memorable incident like this was when we shot Country Kko Kko's 'Oh Happy' music video."
He continued, "Nam Heeseok came and made a cameo appearance in the music video. Since he was in the video, we suggested having a drink together and reserved Juliana. We had just started drinking when Heeseok came in with a nosebleed."
He added, "He said he was hit on the way in. Someone eating tteokbokki at a pojangmacha recognized him as a comedian and told him, 'Make us laugh.' Because Heeseok got upset, he replied, 'Hey, you guys!' and then they suddenly attacked and beat him up."
Lee Sangmin said, "As soon as I heard that story, I said, 'Let's go.' As soon as we went out, I remember asking, 'Who hit you?' and slapping the other person across the face. After that, we started getting beaten up. It became a well-known incident at the time," he said. "I was wearing a watch back then, and I saw it lying on the ground. Even though I was being beaten, I tried to retrieve it. When I went to get the watch, one of them ran over and kicked me in the face."
He continued, "At that time, Nam Heeseok, myself, and Shin Junghwan were taken to the Gangnam Police Station. Tak Jaehun pretended to be dead," he said. Tak Jaehun chimed in with a laugh, "I thought I should survive until the end and be a witness later. I also fell while getting tangled up, but since I stayed still, they didn't touch me."
This incident was also mentioned in the past on the SBS variety show "My Ugly Duckling." Back then, during a snoring test, X-ray images of Lee Sangmin's face were shown, revealing a large number of metal pins, which shocked viewers.
The doctor said, "Almost all of the left side of your face shows signs of surgery," to which Lee Sangmin responded, "The left side of my facial bones was pieced together." He revealed, "At that time, I was diagnosed with eight weeks of recovery."
In particular, Lee Sangmin said he suffered a greater injury because he tried to protect his expensive watch. "When I saw the watch on the ground and tried to pick it up, I got kicked in the face. I tried four or five times," he explained. He added, "Back then, it was worth several million won." He continued, "They say if your nasal bone is crooked, your life takes a turn. Maybe that was the beginning."
