50 Freshmen, Transfer Students, and Police Inspectors Selected for Admission
The 46th class of freshmen at the Korean National Police University was ultimately selected after overcoming a competition ratio of 86.9 to 1.
On March 3, the Korean National Police University held its entrance ceremony for freshmen, transfer students, and publicly recruited police inspectors for the 2026 academic year at Yi Sun-shin Hall in Asan, Chungnam. The 46th class of freshmen underwent a series of examinations including a written test, physical fitness test, aptitude test, and interviews. Based on the combined results of their school records and the College Scholastic Ability Test scores, a total of 50 students (31 men and 19 women) were finally admitted. The top student was Kim Seongyun, a graduate of Ilsan Daejin High School in Gyeonggi Province.

The 44th class of transfer students, who participated in the entrance ceremony on the same day, were selected through both general and in-service admission tracks, with 25 students each for a total of 50 students (28 men and 22 women). The highest scorer in the general admission track was Lee Jaewoon from Hanyang University, while the top student in the in-service track was Lee Hyomin from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. These students will transfer as third-year students and complete a two-year curriculum at the university.
The 75th class of publicly recruited police inspectors was divided into three categories: general, tax and accounting, and cyber. After facing a competition ratio of 65 to 1, a total of 50 candidates passed the final selection, with Seo Kyungwon from Sungkyunkwan University ranking first overall.

There were also notable students with diverse backgrounds. Student Kim Hyunjung, who previously worked as a narcotics investigator at the Korea Customs Service, transferred to the university. Student Cho Suyeon, after earning a master's degree in forensic science in graduate school, also transferred. Freshman Lee Yoonchan is part of a 'police family,' with both parents and an uncle currently serving as police officers.
Kim Seonghee, acting president of the Korean National Police University, urged, "I hope that the incoming students will grow into police officers who are trusted by the public through fair law enforcement and by developing an attitude of understanding and empathy toward the people."
