Woo Sungjin (66), Vice Chairman of the Daegu City Party of the People Power Party, officially announced on March 3 that he will run for Dong District Mayor in Daegu.
On this day at 2 p.m., Vice Chairman Woo held a press conference at the Daegu City Party office of the People Power Party, declaring, "I will revive the economy and create a Dong District where people want to stay," and pledged, "With administrative execution, I will achieve a new leap forward."

He diagnosed that Dong District is currently facing a "wall of stagnation" due to population decline, youth outflow, and a slump in the local business district. He emphasized, "The essence of the crisis is not the population but the lack of opportunity," adding, "With 40 years of management experience and execution ability built up in the corporate field, I will transform Dong District into a city where young people stay and families come to visit, instead of a city that young people leave."
His key pledges include: △ Creating a tourism and industrial complex on the relocated K2 Military Airport site △ Developing the Geumho River tourism special zone △ Early commencement of construction of Urban Railway Line 4 △ Expansion of Ansim New Town's living infrastructure △ Attracting a second medical center.
He stated, "I value execution over promises, and results over words," and promised, "By expanding living sports infrastructure around the Geumho River and East Daegu area, supporting financial and marketing programs for traditional markets, assisting youth entrepreneurship and housing, and expanding educational and cultural facilities, I will realize resident-centered practical administration that people can truly feel."
Vice Chairman Woo stressed, "What matters more than administrative experience is execution ability and economic sense," and added, "As someone with roots in Dong District, I will restart the time that has stood still."
Meanwhile, Vice Chairman Woo is a lifelong resident who attended Dongchon Elementary School, Dong Middle School, Cheonggu High School, and completed doctoral coursework in sociology at Yeungnam University Graduate School. He is recognized as a "steadfast management expert" with 40 years of experience, having served as Vice President of MegaGen Implant and CEO of Cebu Sangsa.
