This competition has been organized to introduce the performance heritage of the Golf GTI using generative artificial intelligence (AI), and to discover university students who will lead the AI-based digital creative industry.
Undergraduate students currently enrolled in domestic or overseas universities, students on leave of absence, and those expecting to graduate (regardless of major, individual participation) are eligible to participate. They can submit a 30-second video advertisement on the theme of the Golf GTI, utilizing generative AI and AI-based video production technology.
The winners will be selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of topic relevance, creativity, appropriate and innovative use of AI, among other criteria. A total of three winners will be chosen. The winning entries will be used as actual marketing content through Volkswagen Korea's official channels, vividly conveying the appeal of the Golf GTI to customers. The winners will also receive the opportunity to participate in the Volkswagen headquarters' GTI 50th anniversary global event program and will be awarded a scholarship.
The global GTI 50th anniversary event will take place at the N?rburgring in Germany, a racing track famously known as the "Green Hell," which is an iconic location for the development and testing of Volkswagen's high-performance models, including the Golf GTI. The winners will be able to witness Volkswagen GTI's motorsport heritage and performance philosophy firsthand by attending the "ADAC N?rburgring 24-hour Endurance Race" held at this venue.
The Golf GTI's eighth-generation facelift model was officially launched in the Korean market last year. Shin Donghyup, Executive Director of Marketing Communications at Volkswagen Korea, commented, "The Golf GTI is an icon of Volkswagen that pioneered an entirely new genre and has led the 'popularization of performance' over the past 50 years. We look forward to the enthusiastic participation of university students who will create innovations in AI content with new technologies and fresh perspectives."
