Cambodian Man in His 30s
Police Track Down Drug Distribution Route
A Cambodian national in his 30s, who had been residing illegally in Korea, was arrested by the police after smuggling a new type of drug called "Rush" via parcel delivery and using it in his room.
On March 3, Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced that it had arrested and is currently investigating a Cambodian man in his 30s, identified as A, on charges of violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics.
According to the police, A is suspected of purchasing one bottle of the new drug "Rush" by parcel delivery in the Chungbuk region on May 15 last year, and inhaling it once in the master bedroom of his residence at around 10 p.m. on the same day.
The investigation revealed that A obtained and used the drug while staying in Korea as an undocumented immigrant. After persistently tracking the drug distribution route, the police raided A's residence on February 28 and apprehended him.
The "Rush" that A used is a liquid substance containing isobutyl nitrite, a temporary narcotic, which was designated as a Category 1 narcotic by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety last year.
While investigating A to determine the exact circumstances of the case and the drug distribution route, the police are also tightening the investigation network targeting suppliers and higher-level distributors.
