Wishing for Health and Abundance Throughout the Year
The Sangju City General Social Welfare Center in North Gyeongsang Province successfully held the 2026 Jeongwol Daeboreum Yutnori Competition, 'Yut-iya Moya,' at the welfare center auditorium on February 27. This event was organized to celebrate Jeongwol Daeboreum (the first full moon of the lunar year) and provided a venue for harmony and communication among local residents.
The event opened with a warm blessing and words of encouragement from Ven. Sujin of Namjangsa Temple. Ven. Sujin said, "Just as the full moon of Jeongwol Daeboreum shines brightly, I hope the coming year will be bright and peaceful for everyone." The main yutnori competition then commenced, with participants forming teams, strategizing, and cheering each other on, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and camaraderie.
In addition to the yutnori competition, the event featured an exciting performance by the Hee-Ro-Ae-Rak Heung Pungmul Band, which further enlivened the atmosphere. Carefully prepared snacks and beverages enhanced the satisfaction of the participants. Regardless of the outcome, participants were seen encouraging and sharing warmth with one another, further adding to the friendly spirit of the event.
One participant shared, "It was a meaningful time to laugh and have fun with neighbors after a long time. I was grateful for the chance to feel a renewed sense of community with my neighbors."
Director Lee Gwangho stated, "Jeongwol Daeboreum is a precious day to wish for health and abundance throughout the year and to share affection with neighbors. I hope that this 'Yut-iya Moya' event remains a warm memory for our residents and becomes an opportunity for everyone to understand each other more closely. Sangju City General Social Welfare Center will continue to do its best for the happiness and welfare of the community by providing a variety of programs where any resident can come together and communicate."
