Engineer Visit After Self-Check and Pre-Inspection Request
Samsung Offers Self-Diagnosis Notifications, While LG Differentiates with AI Services
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will conduct pre-inspection services for air conditioners for about a month ahead of the summer season. As the hot weather is starting earlier, both companies aim to secure customers by encouraging early air conditioner inspections.
On March 3, Samsung Electronics Service announced that it will provide pre-inspection services for air conditioners until March 31. After customers perform a self-check and apply for a pre-inspection, a professional engineer will visit and provide the inspection service.

Customers can request the Samsung air conditioner pre-inspection by calling the contact center or through the company website. The visit fee is provided free of charge.
The method of providing on-site service after a pre-inspection is similar to that of LG Electronics. However, Samsung Electronics offers a notification service, which distinguishes it from LG Electronics. When a push notification is sent via SmartThings, customers can check details such as refrigerant charge, motor operation, sensor status, and heat exchanger temperature in the app. SmartThings is Samsung Electronics' integrated artificial intelligence (AI) platform.
For customers who need cleaning services, an “early bird promotion” for the Samsung Care Plus professional air conditioner cleaning service is also available. Until April 30, customers can use the professional engineer cleaning service at a 10% discounted price.

LG Electronics is also providing pre-inspection services for air conditioners during the same period. When a pre-inspection is requested, a professional engineer visits and uses AI technology to check the air conditioner's cooling performance, refrigerant status, power and wiring connections, and the hygiene of filters and drain hoses. By wirelessly connecting to the product with the LG Smart Check app, the engineer can control and inspect parts without disassembling the unit. The visit fee and inspection fee are both free, excluding any parts costs.
Customers can also use the LG ThinQ app to self-check the operating status of major components-including the inverter, fan motor, compressor, and pressure, temperature, and current sensors-as well as the refrigerant status.
A paid cleaning service is also provided. LG Electronics is currently running a “Spring Cleaning Discount Event for Home Appliances” that offers a 10% discount on the cleaning service fee. Customers can request the cleaning service through the LG Electronics customer center or website.
Both companies are focusing on promoting self-inspection guidance. Samsung Electronics Service has uploaded videos on its website explaining how to perform self-inspection. The self-inspection items include: confirming power connection, cleaning the indoor unit’s dust filter, organizing the area around the outdoor unit, and test operating the air conditioner.
LG Electronics has also posted self-inspection guides on its website and YouTube channel, helping customers check items such as replacing the remote control batteries and cleaning the indoor unit filter.
