Accident at Yongdang-dong Intersection in Mokpo
An accident occurred at an intersection in downtown Mokpo, South Jeolla Province, where a delivery motorcycle ran a red light and struck pedestrians crossing the crosswalk, injuring a total of three people.
According to the Mokpo Police Station in South Jeolla Province on March 3, at around 8:12 p.m. the previous day, a delivery driver, identified as Mr. A (50), was riding a motorcycle at an intersection in Yongdang-dong, Mokpo, when he struck two pedestrians (aged 69 and 70) who were crossing the crosswalk.
As a result of the accident, the two pedestrians and the motorcycle driver, Mr. A, sustained injuries to their heads, chests, and other areas. All three were transported to a nearby hospital by emergency responders. Fortunately, it has been confirmed that none of them are in life-threatening condition.
Investigations revealed that the pedestrian signal was functioning properly at the time of the accident. Police stated that Mr. A was neither under the influence of alcohol nor driving without a license.
The police plan to determine the precise cause of the accident and decide on further action regarding Mr. A once he completes his medical treatment and recovers.
