Recruiting 600 Participants Until March 18
The city of Incheon is recruiting participants for the 'Dream Check Card Program', which provides job-seeking activity allowances to unemployed young people.
Residents of Incheon aged 18 to 39 who are unemployed and whose household income is between 50% and 150% of the median income are eligible to apply. However, those currently participating in similar programs by other organizations or working more than 30 hours per week are excluded from eligibility.
The program plans to support a total of 600 individuals. Those finally selected will receive 500,000 won per month for up to six months (totaling 3 million won) as job-seeking activity support. If a participant finds employment or successfully starts a business during the support period, a congratulatory incentive of 500,000 won will be provided.
The allowance can be used not only for education expenses, book purchases, and study room registration fees required for job preparation, but also for transportation, communication, and pharmaceutical expenses. Notably, starting this year, the program has expanded its scope to include fitness training expenses as part of individual capacity-building activities, which were previously only partially recognized.
The city will accept applications via the Incheon Youth Portal from March 3 to March 18, review applicants based on household income, length of residency in Incheon, and period of unemployment, and announce the recipients on April 13. Additional points will be given to young people from vulnerable groups as well as those who are national merit recipients or eligible for veteran benefits.
Since starting the Dream Check Card Program in 2019, the city has supported a total of 4,483 young people through last year, and 98.7% of last year’s participants expressed a high level of satisfaction with the program.
An official from the city of Incheon stated, "As the economic downturn increases the burden of job-seeking for young people, we hope this program will ease their financial burden and provide practical help in preparing for employment."
