Monthly Inspections Introduced to Prevent Recurrence
The Cultural Heritage Administration will present commendations on March 3rd to twenty-seven employees who swiftly responded to the fire at the National Palace Museum of Korea on January 23rd, successfully protecting the nation's heritage.
The recipients include security guards who were the first to identify the fire and led the initial response, as well as public officials who quickly transported artifacts at the scene. The National Palace Museum of Korea will also receive an institutional commendation in recognition of its effective disaster response system.
To prevent recurrence, the National Palace Museum of Korea will close on the last Monday of every month starting this month. The museum will conduct regular safety inspections of its facilities, storage areas, and exhibition halls.
An official from the Cultural Heritage Administration stated, "We will establish an organizational culture that actively identifies and rewards employees and institutions dedicated to the protection of national heritage."
