Under this agreement, waste wood generated on the sets of dramas produced by Studio Dragon will be recycled as raw materials for MDF (medium-density fiberboard), an interior board, using Hansol Homedeco’s recycling technology.
According to research, approximately 100 tons of waste wood are generated per drama production, most of which is discarded after filming ends. Through this agreement, more than 2,000 tons of waste wood are expected to be recycled annually, reducing waste wood disposal costs by over 50% compared to previous levels.
Hansol Homedeco has introduced facilities for sorting recycled materials and has continuously researched waste wood recycling technology to establish a resource circulation system. Based on these efforts, the company launched MDF made entirely from recycled materials and obtained the GR (Good Recycled) mark from the National Institute of Technology and Standards.
A Studio Dragon representative stated, “This agreement is the first attempt in the industry to efficiently process waste wood generated during drama production, and it is a meaningful step in reusing waste wood as a resource. We will strengthen ESG cooperation with various industries to create a sustainable content production environment.”
A Hansol Homedeco representative said, “This agreement is an example of ESG management that simultaneously enhances environmental value and industrial efficiency through resource circulation. We are pleased to establish a practical resource circulation model with a leading company in the content industry.”
