Made with Italian Leather
Followed by Launches of Donut, Biscuit, and Chocolate Charms
French luxury brand Louis Vuitton has attracted attention by launching the 'Bungeoppang Bag Charm,' inspired by the popular winter snack. According to the luxury goods industry on December 2, Louis Vuitton recently unveiled the 'LV Bungeoppang Bag Charm.' Made from Italian leather, this product features a pouch function that allows for the storage of small items and is currently available on the official website for 1.41 million won. Immediately after its release, online reactions included comments such as, "This is the most expensive bungeoppang in the world," "1.41 million won is more than a lifetime supply of bungeoppang," and "The more I look at it, the cuter it seems."

This season, in addition to the 'Bungeoppang' charm, Louis Vuitton has also introduced a series of bag charms themed after sweet snacks such as donuts, croissants, chocolates, biscuits, and fortune cookies, all priced in the 1 million won range. The designs feature the brand's signature monogram combined with kitschy snack silhouettes, which are said to stimulate the Millennials & Gen Z generation's desire to collect.
Amidst this, a trend of 'food motif accessories' targeting the 'bag decorating' (baek-kku) trend among Millennials & Gen Z is emerging across the fashion industry. In particular, overseas luxury brands have consistently applied the 'food-kitsch' aesthetic to their bag charm and keyring lineups. Fendi has also unveiled a bag charm series inspired by food, featuring motifs ranging from spaghetti, French fries, ravioli, to dumplings, offering a blend of Eastern and Western influences.

The prices of these bag charms, made from multi-colored leather, range from 800,000 to 1.3 million won. The dumpling and ravioli-shaped bag charms are designed with internal zippered compartments for added practicality. Balenciaga has also joined the trend. Its 'Chips Bag Charm,' released for the summer season this year, is designed to resemble a potato chip bag and comes in five different flavors (colorways). Made from glossy calfskin, the price is 1.16 million won. After its release, it was traded for up to 1.6 million won on resale sites.
