No Income Requirements: Food and Daily Necessities Provided
Available at Two Locations: Naraeul Welfare Center and Southern Welfare Center
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on November 28 that it will launch the "Food Security Corner" next month to quickly provide food and daily necessities to households in crisis facing financial difficulties.
The "Food Security Corner" aims to address the limitations of the existing food bank and food market systems by reaching out to households in crisis who have fallen through the cracks of current welfare programs.
Accordingly, anyone can use the service by visiting the Naraeul Food Market (Naraeul General Social Welfare Center) or the Haengbok Nanum Food Market (Hwaseong Southern General Social Welfare Center) without any separate application or income requirements.
Each user will receive three to five basic food or daily necessity items. The first visit is provided with no conditions, while those who use the service more than once will be connected to local welfare resources and township, town, or neighborhood offices through counseling.
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong, stated, "This program lowers the barriers for residents who have struggled due to income requirements or complicated procedures, allowing them to receive timely assistance. I hope citizens in need will feel comfortable visiting and receiving the support they require."
