Direct Access to Gangnam Without Transfers
Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on November 28 that a new express bus route connecting Beombak and Okgil-dong to Yangjae Station in Seoul has been selected as part of the Metropolitan Express Bus Expansion Project promoted by the Metropolitan Transportation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Metropolitan Transportation Committee selects new express bus routes based on a comprehensive review of factors such as travel time reduction and potential demand. In this year's review, a total of nine new routes were chosen, including the Bucheon City route.
To secure the selection of the new route, the city has communicated with local residents, analyzed travel patterns, and addressed previous reasons for non-selection to prepare a thorough project plan. In particular, the city analyzed that systematically reflecting the expected reduction in travel time and potential demand had a positive impact on the route's selection.

The Bucheon City route will start from the Sosa Public Bus Depot, pass through Beombak and Okgil-dong, and operate to Yangjae Station in Seoul. This is expected to greatly improve access to the Gangnam area for residents of the Sosa district, who have previously relied on transfers, fulfilling a long-standing demand.
Cho Yongik, Mayor of Bucheon City, stated, "This achievement is the result of our continued efforts to alleviate transportation inconveniences for residents traveling from Beombak and Okgil-dong to the Gangnam area in Seoul. We will continue to do our utmost to enhance mobility for citizens and address the growing demand for metropolitan transportation."
