Four Vice Presidents, Seven Executive Directors, and One Master Appointed

Samsung Heavy Industries has carried out its regular executive appointments for 2026. The company explained that, in line with its 'performance-based' principle, it has placed technology leaders at the forefront in this round of appointments.
On November 27, Samsung Heavy Industries announced that a total of 12 executives have been promoted, including four vice presidents, seven executive directors, and one Master. The company stated that it focused on selecting core technology talents around future growth pillars such as: ▲ competitiveness in eco-friendly ship technology, ▲ capabilities in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) for offshore floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facilities, and ▲ building smart and automated shipyards based on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DT).

Vice President Hyunjo Kim holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from MIT in the United States. Since joining Samsung Heavy Industries in 2009, he has worked at the Ship and Ocean Research Institute, served as Head of the Ship and Ocean Research Center, and led the Autonomous Navigation Research Center. Since last year, he has led the Ship Design Team, serving as a key figure in autonomous navigation and eco-friendly technology.
Vice President Jaekyun Yoon, who joined Samsung Heavy Industries in 1996, is a sales expert who has worked in both basic design and ship sales divisions. Since 2020, he has led the Ship Sales Team, overseeing global order strategies for international shipowners.
Vice President Donghyun Lee, a graduate in Naval Architecture from Pusan National University, joined Samsung Heavy Industries in 1994 and worked for a long period in the basic design organization. He later served as Head of the Gas Carrier Design Team and Head of the Cargo Ship Team, building expertise in technology and project management. Recently, as FLNG Project Director, he has overseen key operations in the offshore EPC business.
Vice President Seongrak Lee, who joined the company in 1995, is a human resources expert who has worked in the HR organization for over 20 years, leading innovation in Samsung Heavy Industries' HR systems and organizational culture. Appointed as Head of HR in 2020, he has led talent acquisition and organizational management strategies, and since last year, he has overseen the company's entire personnel system as Chief of HR.
Samsung Heavy Industries plans to finalize and announce its regular organizational restructuring and position appointments in the near future.
