Includes Changes to Land Use Zones in Non-Urban Areas
and Plans for New Urban Roads
On November 26, the city of Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, announced that it will hold a public inspection and gather residents' opinions on the "2035 Icheon Urban Management Plan Revision Draft" for 15 days starting from November 27.
The urban management plan is a statutory mid-term plan established for the development, maintenance, and preservation of cities and counties in accordance with the National Land Planning and Utilization Act. It includes designations for land use zones, districts, and areas, infrastructure, urban development and maintenance projects, and district unit plans.
This revision draft aims to proactively respond to changes in urban conditions, the expansion of living spheres, and the increasing demand for infrastructure.
The revision draft encompasses comprehensive plans such as changes to land use zones and districts in non-urban areas, as well as the establishment and modification of urban planning facilities. It also reflects infrastructure plans for each region, including the expansion of living social overhead capital (SOC) facilities.
In particular, this revision draft includes numerous changes to land use zones to improve urban functions and residential environments. Areas released from agricultural promotion zones and conservation mountains have been reviewed and adjusted to management zones, while production and conservation management zones have been changed to planned management zones to promote rational land use.
In the area of urban planning facilities, the plan includes projects to improve living conditions, such as the establishment of cultural and sports facilities and a Gyeonggi Science High School, as well as the construction of new urban planning roads to alleviate traffic congestion in the Songjeong-dong and Jeungpo-dong areas.
The revision draft can be viewed by visiting the Urban Division at Icheon City Hall, and opinions can be submitted in writing during the public inspection period. The city plans to review the submitted opinions, consult with relevant agencies, gather the city council's opinions, and conduct a review by the Urban Planning Committee before making a final decision and public announcement.
