On November 10 (local time), the New York Post reported, "President Putin's hand appeared swollen and painful," adding, "As images showed bulging veins, a range of online speculation emerged, from Parkinson's disease to cancer."
According to the report, President Putin showed signs of discomfort while clenching his right hand during an event held in Samara, Russia, on November 6. He was also frequently seen clenching his hand while addressing supporters.

Anton Gerashchenko, former adviser to Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated, "There is a problem with President Putin's hand," and added, "The veins are severely swollen." Another Ukrainian broadcaster, Dmytro Gordon, claimed, "President Putin's hand is swollen and painful, and the veins on one side are noticeably bulging."
President Putin's hand previously became a subject of controversy during the early stages of Russia's war in Ukraine in 2022. At the time, a black spot was noticed on his hand during a military unit visit, and some speculated that marks visible in certain photos were from intravenous drips.
Around the same period, President Putin was also seen gripping a table tightly or experiencing hand tremors during speeches, leading to rumors of Parkinson's disease. However, the Russian government at the time denied any concerns regarding President Putin's health.
President Putin is not the only leader whose hand photos have sparked controversy online. In July, U.S. President Donald Trump was also caught up in health speculation after a bruise was spotted on his hand. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt dismissed the rumors, attributing the bruise to frequent handshakes.
