Korea Investment & Securities (President Kim Sunghwan) announced on November 7 that it will hold a foreign currency product subscription event for customers of its online financial investment service BanKIS until December 5.
The products eligible for the event are: ▲ foreign currency promissory notes (with maturities of 91 days or more), ▲ foreign currency repurchase agreements (with maturities of 91 days or more), and ▲ overseas bonds denominated in foreign currencies. Depending on the net purchase amount after event registration, customers can receive benefits of up to $100. In addition, customers who make net purchases of 30 million won or more will be entered into a drawing to receive one share of Palantir Technologies, a U.S. technology company.
This event was organized to respond to the growing demand for investment in foreign currency assets and to provide dollar benefits to investors. According to Korea Investment & Securities, among overseas bonds, U.S. Treasury bonds are steadily popular among customers in their 30s and older who prefer stable asset management. Japanese government bonds, newly launched this year, have received strong responses from customers in their 30s, while Brazilian government bonds are particularly popular among customers in their 50s.
Foreign currency repurchase agreements have seen steadily increasing demand from customers in their 40s to 70s, growing by approximately 160% compared to the previous year. The company explained that this is due to higher interest rates compared to won-denominated repurchase agreements and the diversification effect from exchange rate fluctuations, attracting investors seeking both stability and profitability.
Park Jaehyun, Head of the Retail Customer Group at Korea Investment & Securities, stated, "Customer interest in foreign currency products continues to grow. Through this event, we hope customers can manage exchange rate risk while enjoying tangible benefits to help grow their assets. We will continue to provide differentiated products and services to meet our customers' diverse investment needs in the future."
Korea Investment & Securities' foreign currency products can be subscribed to not only through the mobile app, but also via internet banking advertising channels of KakaoBank, Toss Bank, and K Bank.
