Partnership Signed with Ship Design Company "DSEC"
Combining Design and Procurement Capabilities for Korea-U.S. Shipbuilding Collaboration
Expanding Global Value Chain from China and Southeast Asia to North America
Samsung Heavy Industries has officially begun its entry into the U.S. shipbuilding market. Following its recent partnership with the U.S.-based Vigor Marine Group, the company is now accelerating its 'MASGA (Make American Shipbuilding Great Again)' strategy by establishing a collaborative system with DSEC, a U.S. company specializing in ship design and equipment.

On November 6, Samsung Heavy Industries announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DSEC to establish a strategic partnership. Through this agreement, the two companies aim to pursue joint business opportunities in the global shipbuilding market, including the United States, and to build an integrated value chain encompassing design, procurement, and construction.
DSEC is a company that has collaborated with U.S. shipyards in various areas, including the design of commercial and special-purpose vessels, supply of equipment, maintenance, and shipyard consulting. Industry insiders expect that the combination of Samsung Heavy Industries' shipbuilding and offshore construction technology and DSEC's North American-based design and procurement capabilities will create significant synergy. In particular, the two companies plan to collaborate in several areas: construction of mid-sized commercial vessels, shipyard modernization consulting, ship conversion and LNG carrier cargo hold repairs, provision of green and digital solutions, and utilization of research and development (R&D) facilities.
A representative from Samsung Heavy Industries stated, "DSEC is the optimal partner with extensive experience in ship design and procurement within the United States," adding, "Following last year's strategic partnership with Vigor Marine Group, this agreement will create new growth engines for us."
