The meeting was attended by 15 participants, including the heads of four organizations-the city hall, police station, fire station, and education support office-as well as relevant department heads. They shared each institution's crime prevention policies and discussed ways to cooperate.
The agenda focused on ten key items: the additional installation of CCTV in local crime-prone areas following the expansion of the smart city safety network; environmental maintenance and data sharing around vacant and abandoned houses; strengthening joint responses regarding the transfer of homeless individuals in crisis on the streets; enhancing crime prevention patrols to protect students on their way to and from school; reinforcing preventive activities around schools to prevent crimes against children; revising ordinances and providing budget support to help abused seniors achieve economic independence; supporting participatory youth guidance programs through continued budget allocation; removing traffic safety facilities that violate the Road Traffic Act; managing retroreflective performance of road markings and expanding LED-type road studs to improve nighttime visibility; and tightening safety management and enforcement for fixed-gear bicycles and electric scooters. The participants agreed to collaborate closely on these issues.
Hyungdeok Park, mayor of Dongducheon City, who presided over the meeting, stated, "The Regional Security Council is a consultative body aimed at making Dongducheon a safer city where citizens can feel secure by preventing crime and establishing the rule of law. I ask for active cooperation from the city, the police station, the fire station, and the education support office. We will do our utmost to make Dongducheon an even safer and more livable city."
