The Seokdang Museum at Dong-A University (Director: Kim Kisoo) announced that it successfully hosted the "Busan-Taiwan Industrial Heritage Academic Exchange: B-Heritage" program from May 20 to May 25, holding events across the Busan and Daegu regions over six days.

This event was organized as part of the "Glocal University 30" project, supervised by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, with the aim of internationally promoting the value of preserving and utilizing regional industrial heritage.

Leading experts in architecture and cultural heritage from Taiwan, including representatives from Taipei Tech, Chung Yuan Christian University, and the Taiwan Museum Cultural and Educational Foundation, participated in large numbers.

Participants visited major industrial heritage sites in Busan and Daegu, such as the UN Memorial Cemetery, Uam-dong Somak Village, Kangkangi Art Village, Japanese Military Remains on Gadeokdo, the former site of Samsung Sanghoe, and Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park, sharing both the historical significance and the on-site realities of these locations.

The highlight of the event was the international academic seminar held on May 23 at Dong-A University Bumin Campus. At this gathering, industrial heritage experts from Busan and Taiwan convened to deliver in-depth presentations and discussions on a range of topics, including industrial heritage and modern architecture in Busan, the demolition and restoration of Yeongdo Bridge in Busan, the reuse of the Keelung Port warehouse complex in Taiwan, and the reuse of the Taipei Railway Workshop Museum.

Korean presenters included Professor Kim Youngbun (Seokdang Museum, Dong-A University), Professor Xuan Sizhi (Department of Landscape Architecture), and Nam Yunsun, CEO of Gachi.Gachi.Space. On the Taiwanese side, speakers included Professor Chang Kunjen (Taipei Tech), Professor Lin Shaowei, and Professor Chang Yachun (both from Chung Yuan Christian University), who introduced international cases of the preservation and utilization of industrial heritage.

Kim Kisoo, Director of the Seokdang Museum, stated, "This academic exchange has gone beyond the scope of simple research, presenting a new platform for regional and international cooperation through cultural heritage." He added, "We hope to further expand international cooperation for the 'Glocal University B-Heritage Cultural Content Branding' initiative and to continue promoting the globalization of regional industrial heritage content."
