Busan Bumin Hospital (Director: Choi Changhwa) will hold a public health lecture, "Health Class," for local residents and patients at the hospital's main auditorium at 2 p.m. on May 15.
This Health Class will focus on "Understanding and Preventing Dementia." The event aims to share accurate information about dementia and provide practical tips for prevention and management. The lecture will be delivered by Hyun Hongdae, head of the Department of Psychiatry.
As South Korea has entered a super-aged society, with the proportion of people aged 65 and older surpassing 20%, dementia has emerged as a major health issue where early diagnosis and prevention are crucial, rather than simply being a natural part of aging. If dementia is properly treated and managed in its early stages, it is possible to slow the progression of symptoms and improve quality of life, making early screening particularly important.
During the lecture, Hyun Hongdae will provide easy-to-understand explanations on the following topics: the definition and types of dementia, lifestyle habits for prevention, dietary and exercise methods to slow the progression of dementia, and commonly misunderstood facts about the condition.
A representative from Busan Bumin Hospital stated, "As social interest in dementia continues to grow, this Health Class will be a meaningful opportunity to deliver accurate information and share practical prevention strategies," adding, "We will continue to contribute to the health of local residents through various health lectures."
The Health Class is free and open to everyone without prior registration, and detailed information can be found on the hospital's website or by calling the main phone number.
