According to Gimpo City on the 5th, the city formed the 'Han River Water Transportation System Establishment TF Team' on the 26th of last month with the goal of revitalizing water transportation on the Han River and held its first meeting.
This meeting marked the TF team's first official activity to actively promote projects improving accessibility to the dock, such as parking lot construction and entrance road alignment maintenance, aimed at extending the Han River bus route to Gimpo. In particular, the team focused on reviewing measures to improve dock accessibility with the goal of extending the Seoul water bus, known as the 'Han River Bus,' to the Gimpo route.
The TF team will discuss plans for the establishment and operation of the Han River water transportation system until the project concludes, and will promptly proceed with setting Gimpo City's response direction and related administrative procedures through consultations with relevant organizations.
A Gimpo City official stated, “By establishing the Han River water transportation system, it is expected to greatly contribute not only to enhancing citizens' mobility convenience but also to revitalizing the local economy through tourism resource development.” He added, “Gimpo City will do its best to establish a swift and efficient implementation strategy centered on the TF team so that the Han River route can become another competitive advantage for Gimpo City.”
