Adieu! Warmth-Carrying Relay Baton... Cheonil Passenger Group, Last Runner of Busan-Style Good Payment

Park Bohyun Prepays at Five Restaurants and Shops in Sasang District
Final Private Company Participation... Citizen Event Still Ongoing

The final participant in the Busan-style Good Payment campaign, which injects cash to revitalize the local commercial district, is approaching its conclusion.

Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) announced on the 27th that on the 26th, Park Bo-hyun, chairman of Cheonil Passenger Group, joined as the seventh and final participant in the Busan-style Good Payment campaign.

On that day, Chairman Park visited the Garogongwon Restaurant Alley with the Sasang District Mayor and prepaid meal and snack expenses for employees at five restaurants and shops, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy. The relay baton, which had been passed along to warm up Busan's commercial districts, stopped with him.

Founded in 1949, Cheonil Passenger Group grew from Cheonil Passenger Automobile and has focused on passenger transportation and terminal operation for 75 years. The company has also expanded into distribution (Apple Outlet) and energy (Cheonil Energy) sectors, continuously growing. It is committed to regional coexistence by engaging in various community contribution activities such as "Creating a Clean Sasang" and food events to help underprivileged neighbors.

Chairman Park Bo-hyun said, "I participated because I hope the Good Payment campaign brings warm changes to the local economy and I sympathize with its good purpose," adding, "I expect the commercial districts to regain vitality through stimulating local consumption."

Adieu! Warmth-Carrying Relay Baton... Cheonil Passenger Group, Last Runner of Busan-Style Good Payment Park Bohyun, President of Cheonil Passenger Group, took the final position in the Busan-style Good Payment campaign on the 26th, paying for employee meal and snack expenses.

This Good Payment campaign was conducted seven times in total, fostering a warm atmosphere where local small business owners and companies supported each other.

Jo Yong-rok, president of the Garogongwon Merchants Association, said, "Prepayment is meaningful beyond simple payment as it conveys a message of support to small business owners, which makes it even more encouraging."

Garogongwon Restaurant Alley is a commercial district near Sasang Station on Subway Line 2 and the Western Bus Terminal, an area with active public transportation transfers. The Garogongwon Merchants Association was selected for Busan City's Alley Commercial District Revitalization Project in 2023 and held the "Garogongwon Pinwheel Festival" as a result. They are also promoting various activities such as small-scale busking and themed street creation to naturally attract floating population and local residents to the commercial district.

The citizen participation boom-up event to expand citizen involvement will continue until April 6. Citizens who wish to participate can prepay 100,000 KRW or more at a Busan-based business by April 6, then register payment receipts and business coupons or other certification materials on the city’s website and leave a message supporting small business owners.

Large supermarkets, department stores, online shopping malls, and businesses outside Busan are excluded from the event. A draw will be held every Wednesday for participants who registered from Monday to Sunday of the previous week, selecting 78 winners weekly who will receive Dongbaekjeon policy support funds worth 50,000 KRW (3 winners), 30,000 KRW (5 winners), and 10,000 KRW (70 winners).

Kim Bong-cheol, Director of Busan City's Digital Economy Office, said, "Voluntary participation by private companies is a great force in revitalizing the local economy. Although the campaign has ended, the positive changes created by warm participation will continue," and added, "We hope for many citizens’ interest and participation in the citizen participation boom-up event."
