Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon claimed that with the inauguration of the Trump administration's second term, a bipartisan response is urgently needed to turn the crisis into an opportunity for the Korean economy.
Governor Kim, who departed on the 18th to attend the 'Davos Forum,' wrote on his social media on the 21st, "The Trump administration's second term has begun. There really is no time left now," and predicted, "As President Trump announced he would 'act with historic speed and power,' the world will undergo a rapid period of reorganization."
He added, "Here in Davos, we are on high alert for the shocks that the Trump 2.0 era will bring," and stated, "I plan to gather wisdom together with global economic leaders, including Gary Cohn, former White House National Economic Council Chairman under 'Trump's first term,' who is also attending the forum."
Furthermore, he expressed concern, saying, "It has been a week since I immediately activated the 'Trump 2nd Term Response Emergency System' and urged the prompt appointment of an 'Economic Special Envoy,' but export barriers such as tariffs and supply chain reorganization have not even been discussed. I am very worried about whether we are prepared to turn this crisis into an opportunity."
He emphasized, "If we waste more time here, the crisis will be charged at an enormous cost," and stressed, "The situation where we cannot even send a special envoy to the inauguration must not continue. A bipartisan response is essential to turn the crisis into an opportunity for the Korean economy."
He also promised, "As a member of 'Team Korea,' I will fulfill my mission for economic reconstruction here in Davos."
