Tracked His Ex-Wife to Dubai for a Premeditated Crime
"Let Me Fight in the Ukraine War Instead of Facing Punishment"... Court Denies Request
A brutal murder occurred at a five-star hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where a flight attendant in her twenties was killed by her ex-husband. Immediately after committing the crime, the ex-husband fled to Russia. After being apprehended, he requested to be sent to fight in the Ukraine war to avoid criminal punishment, but the court rejected his request.
On December 27 (Korea Standard Time), foreign media outlets, citing local investigative authorities, reported that a 25-year-old Russian flight attendant known as Anastasia was found dead in a guest room at the Voco Bonnington Hotel in Dubai last week.
The scene discovered by hotel staff was gruesome. The victim’s body had at least 15 stab wounds to the neck, torso, and limbs. There was a significant amount of blood inside the room.
Police identified the victim’s ex-husband, Albert Morgan, a 41-year-old Russian national, as the primary suspect. Morgan fled Dubai for Russia immediately after the crime, but his identity was confirmed through hotel CCTV footage and analysis of his movements. He was arrested by local investigators as soon as he arrived at a Russian airport.
The investigation revealed that the two had been married for about two years before divorcing, but Morgan continued to stalk his ex-wife and displayed obsessive and distorted behavior. In particular, he reportedly became enraged after suspecting that Anastasia was working as a so-called "VIP call girl" serving high-profile clients.
Police believe Morgan’s crime was premeditated. He tracked Anastasia’s work schedule and secretly followed her to Dubai, disguising himself as a guest to enter the hotel where she was staying. He then stole a robe from the hotel laundry, posed as a staff member, and lured her into opening her hotel room door.
During police questioning, Morgan stated that he intended to humiliate her by splashing green paint on her face and cutting her hair with scissors. However, a physical altercation broke out inside the room, and, according to investigators, he ended up using a weapon he had brought to carry out the murder.
Morgan had a previous criminal record, including domestic violence and drug-related offenses, for which he served about seven years in prison. After his release, he even changed his name to assume a new identity.
After his arrest, Morgan told a Russian court that he wanted to volunteer to fight in the Ukraine war in an attempt to avoid punishment. In Russia, there have been cases where serious offenders have had their sentences suspended or been pardoned for joining the war effort. However, the court rejected his request, citing the brutality and severity of his crime.
