Electric vehicle charger manufacturer SK Signet announced on the 9th that it has appointed Kim Jong-woo, CEO of SK Enpulse, as its new CEO.
Born in 1969, CEO Kim Jong-woo earned a bachelor's degree and a Global MBA from Korea University. He joined SK Networks in 1998 and has held key positions at major SK Group affiliates including SK Enpulse, SKC, and SK Holdings.
Kim is recognized for his deep technical understanding in the semiconductor and advanced materials fields, as well as his outstanding performance in corporate innovation and global business strategy development. Notably, during his tenure as CEO of SK Enpulse, he successfully grew the advanced materials business for all semiconductor manufacturing processes.
At SKC, he concurrently served as Head of the Business Model Innovation Promotion Team and Head of the Solmix Business Development Division, while at SK Holdings, he played a key role in portfolio management. During his time at SK Global (now SK Networks), he demonstrated strengths in crisis management and business portfolio building.
In 2022, he was appointed Vice Chairman of Industry-Academia Cooperation at the Korean Ceramic Society and Director of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association. He has been recognized for his contributions to technological innovation and industry with the Korean Ceramic Society Technology Award and the Industrial Merit Medal on Commerce and Industry Day.
SK Signet explained, "The new CEO Kim is a key figure who will lead SK Signet's global business expansion and technological innovation, and is expected to play an important role in strengthening SK Signet's market competitiveness and expanding its technological leadership."
Recently, SK Signet's 'V2 400kW Ultra-Fast Charger' was selected as a 2024 World-Class Product (hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, organized by KOTRA), and was also chosen as one of the top 10 R&D representatives at the '2024 Industrial Technology Research and Development (R&D) Comprehensive Exhibition,' receiving the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award.
