Sharing the Latest Hiring Trends... Cheongnyeon Foundation and Bareun Hiring Certification Institute Hold Conference [On the 22nd, the Youth Foundation and the Korea Fair Recruitment Certification Institute held the '5th Korea Fair Recruitment Conference.']

The Youth Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) announced on the 23rd that it held the ‘5th Korea Fair Recruitment Conference’ on the 22nd at the Seoul City Hall Citizen's Hall, co-hosted with the Korea Fair Recruitment Certification Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Certification Institute), sharing the latest recruitment trends and exemplary domestic and international recruitment cases.

The ‘5th Korea Fair Recruitment Conference’ was jointly organized by the Foundation and the Certification Institute, supported by the Korea Industrial Human Resources Corporation’s National Competency Standards Institute, the Career Coach Association, and Komento, with over 100 recruitment managers (officers) from both public and private sectors attending.

The event began with opening remarks by Park Joo-hee, Secretary General of the Foundation, and Jo Ji-yong, Director of the Certification Institute, followed by sessions on ▲ Recruitment Trends 2024 ▲ Desirable Organizational Culture as Seen Through the ‘Youth Job Change and Retirement Perception Survey’ ▲ Youth Best Team Player PT·GD Competition ▲ Sharing Exemplary Recruitment Cases by Companies.

First, a lecture was given by the Certification Institute and the Korea Career Coach Association on ‘Organizational Culture Fit,’ which was selected as the number one ‘2024 Recruitment Trend’ by 441 professional interviewers recently.

Jo Ji-yong, Director of the Certification Institute and presenter, forecasted, “As advanced companies increasingly emphasize ‘organizational culture fit,’ the demand for ‘team players’ who can harmonize with existing members and deliver results will grow even more.”

Amid recent differences in perceptions of the workplace between youth and older generations, such as the phenomenon of ‘quiet quitting,’ the Foundation shared results from the ‘Youth Job Change and Retirement Perception Survey’ conducted on 1,000 adult men and women, explaining the ‘desirable organizational culture’ as perceived by youth.

Yoon Won-il, Manager at the Foundation and presenter, stated, “Youth prefer an organizational culture that respects individuals while being horizontal and complementary.” He added, “Although the MZ generation discourse highlights irresponsible behavior among youth, many young people actually seek to enhance work efficiency, achievement, and belonging through positive organizational culture.”

Next, the finals and awards ceremony of the ‘Youth Best Team Player PT·GD Competition,’ held to strengthen youth employment capabilities, took place.

This competition evaluates the qualities of youth job seekers as suitable team players through PT (personal presentation) and GD (group discussion) interviews, providing opportunities to enhance capabilities through expert feedback. The six finalists were assessed on competencies such as personality, cooperation, and responsibility related to organizational fit in front of about 100 recruitment managers.

As a result, youth Seung-bin Jeon received the grand prize. Following him, Hye-yoon Noh and Ji-woo Jang won excellence awards, and Jung Ryu, Young-eun Lee, and Jae-ho Cha received encouragement awards.

The main conference featured keynote presentations on exemplary recruitment cases from leading domestic and international companies.

First, Jin-sil Kim, Director of the National Competency Standards Institute at the Korea Industrial Human Resources Corporation, presented on the theme ‘Empathetic Recruitment! Enhancing Applicant Experience and Employment Brand.’

Next, recruitment cases from domestic companies were presented. Seung-bin Choi from Hansol Home Deco spoke on ‘Hansol Group’s Case of Verifying Organizational Adaptability through Virtual Internships,’ and Yong-hee Han, Manager at SK Telecom, presented ‘SK Telecom’s Junior Talent Recruitment (New Graduate Recruitment) Re-design Case.’

A representative from the Youth Foundation said, “This event provided an opportunity to gain insights into talent recruitment and examine recruitment trends through cases from domestic and international companies.” He emphasized, “Recently, companies have been emphasizing organizational fit for job seekers, while the concept of a ‘good workplace’ as perceived by youth is also changing. Since employment is a stepping stone for youth independence, we will continue to provide various opportunities to enhance adaptability and understanding of recruitment.”

Meanwhile, the Foundation offers programs such as ‘Youth Current Employee Online Job Mentoring’ to improve youth’s understanding of job roles and provide opportunities to explore organizational culture.
