[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] In the future, registered mail can also be received contactlessly. If a delivery location is designated, the registered mail can be left there. If the first delivery attempt fails, the mail can be stored for up to 4 days, and the recipient can also specify the redelivery date.
The Ministry of Science and ICT's Postal Service Headquarters announced on the 22nd that it will promote partial amendments and new notifications to the "Postal Service Handling Rules" to improve the delivery method of registered ordinary mail (hereinafter referred to as registered mail).
According to this notification amendment, registered mail can be received by designating a delivery location. Mail that could not be delivered due to the recipient's absence will be stored for up to 4 days. Previously, it was stored for 2 days. The recipient can specify the redelivery date for mail that was not delivered on the first attempt. Applications can be made by designating one day during the storage period as the desired redelivery date through mobile, Internet Post Office, or the Post Office Call Center.
The amendments will be implemented in stages after a 20-day administrative notice period, dividing the country into first-phase (next month 26th) and second-phase (first half of next year) implementation areas.
