Six-member boy band Teen Top and female K-pop group SISTAR have been announced to perform at the 2012 Arirang Festival.
Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 2012 AF will present the two idol groups and some A-list artists such as Insooni and Korean classical musician Oh Jeong-hye at the festival set to be held at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul from June 15 to 17, the organizers said through a press release on Tuesday.
On the second day of the three-day event, the officials noted that SISTAR and Teen Top will be singing modern renditions of traditional Korean songs that goes under the big title, 'Arirang.'
Arirang is a Korean folk song that has many regional variations and the tune and lyrics may differ based on which province it came from.
SISTAR -- consisted of Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou and Dasom -- made their debut with the first single "Push Push" in June 2010. The girls recently dropped the first mini-album titled "Alone" and has topped various music charts upon the release on April 12.
Meanwhile, Teen Top -- composed of C.A.P, Chunji, L.Joe, Niel, Changjo and Ricky -- made their debut in 2010 with the first mini-album "Come Into the World," which produced their hit song "Clap."
A few weeks ago, their agency confirmed that the boys will return to the music scene with the third mini-album on May 30.
