MBN TV series "Vampire Idol" - Monday-Friday 9:30 p.m.
The first impression of "Vampire Idol" was that it is economical. "Vampire Idol" tells of what happens when Prince Bbabbabba (Lee Jung) of planet Vamparitus, 440 light years away from the solar system, comes to earth with his guarding escorts played by Kim Hyun-joong, Hong Jong-hyun and Lee Soo-hyuk, to meet idol girl group Girls Girls. And the first episode delivered on the sitcom's setup and characters in a brief yet neat and efficient way. Particularly, even though almost all the characters to the sitcom appeared in the first episode which lasted 30 minutes long, the circumstances and lines were short and simple while the characters were described without any fuss. Showing the prince and his guarding escorts within a single frame from a single angle in itself was a cause for laughter for Lee Jung plays the pretty-faced prince everyone loves with him being 'the perfect guy with his perfect looks, disposition and attitude' while actual model-turned-actors are the three guarding escorts who are 'horrifyingly ugly yet the best in terms of martial arts and loyalty.'

Also, the relationship between Girls Girls' manager Mr. Shin (Shin Dong-yeop) whose exact identity has yet to be revealed but is predicted to be related to Vamparitus, Girls Girls' agency SD Management's boss (Oh Gwang-rok), and Mrs. Kim (Kim Soo-mi) who is in disguise as Mr. Shin's mother, were delivered through short yet key lines they said. Shin Dong-yeop's acting in particular will be worth looking forward to even for his use of vulgar expressions while playing the bragger and troublemaker Mr. Shin. But the problem is that this economical approach is not limited to the storytelling aspect of the show but is applied also to its visual aspect such as the set, costumes and special effects which makes "Vampire Idol" look extremely cheap and reminds one of a children's drama. Hence, it will be worth looking at how well this 'low cost high effect' attitude that "Vampire Idol" takes on will be able to tickle and convince viewers.
