Girls' Generation and 2AM take over TV music charts

K-pop idols Girls' Generation and 2AM rose to the top of televised music programs during the weekend.

On KBS' "Music Bank", the nine-member girl ensemble promoting their new single "Oh!" beat out boy bands CNBLUE and 2AM to be crowned the winners of the show aired Friday.

Meanwhile, 2AM's "I Can't Let You Go" won the top Mutizen award on SBS' Sunday music program "Inkigayo" against last week's winner CNBLUE of "Alone."

This is the first time the four-member boy band has taken the No. 1 spot on a televised music show since their debut in 2008.

Girls' Generation released their second full-length album at the end of January and the title track "Oh!" has topped several music charts including MelOn, Dosirak and Mnet.

The girl group is scheduled to give an encore performance of their "1st ASIA TOUR CONCERT - Into the New World" on February 27 and 28.

2AM's first record, which also went on sale late last month, has reached the top of several online music charts and their single has been the most downloaded tune for mobile phones.

Several other tracks from their album including "I'm Sorry I Can't Smile For You" and "I Love You" are also ranked within the top 20 of various music charts.
