Samsung Electronics Surges with Strong KOSPI,
Sees Partial Decline on March 3
Entertainer Chimbakman (real name: Lee Malnyeon) revealed that he sold his Samsung Electronics shares when the price was in the 70,000 won range, but recently bought them again at 210,000 won.
On February 27, Chimbakman released a Shorts video on his channel titled "Chimbakman Re-enters Samsung Electronics."
When a viewer asked in the chat, "Why did the Samsung Electronics price drop? Did you buy Samsung Electronics?" Chimbakman replied, "I bought it yesterday. I joined out of frustration."
In the video, he stated, "I sold Samsung Electronics at 70,000 won and re-entered at 210,000 won." As for his reason for buying, he said, "Even if the stock price goes down, everyone goes down together anyway. If I don't buy, I'm the only one left out, but if we all go down together, I won't be lonely."
Samsung Electronics, which had long hovered in the 40,000 to 70,000 won range, surged recently amid a strong KOSPI. On February 27, it closed at 216,500 won. However, on March 3, Samsung Electronics fell 9.88% to close at 195,100 won due to global economic instability following the US invasion of Iran.
As of March 3, the KOSPI closed at 5,791.91, down 7.24% from the previous trading day. As the 6,000 level broke, a 'sell-sidecar' was triggered during the session. According to the Korea Exchange, at around 12:05:53 p.m. that day, the effect of program sell orders was suspended for five minutes due to fluctuations in the KOSPI 200 futures index.
Meanwhile, Chimbakman has been a representative retail investor who was 'stuck' with Samsung Electronics shares for three years. In a YouTube live broadcast last July, Chimbakman said, "My Samsung Electronics stock finally turned profitable." However, he was unable to wait for further gains and sold early, missing out on even greater profits during the subsequent rally.
