Long Handwritten Letter Posted on Social Media
"Taking Adderall for Attention Deficit Disorder"
"Made a Scapegoat to Cover Up Sandara Park's Drug Incident"
Singer Bommai Park voiced her frustration over past drug importation allegations, criticizing her former agency as well as group member Sandara Park. On March 3, she posted a lengthy handwritten letter on her social media, stating, "I want to tell you the truth."
She explained, "The substance Adderall, which became controversial, is not a narcotic drug, and I am a patient with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)." While this medication is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a treatment, domestic authorities prohibit its import due to concerns over the addictive properties and side effects of its main ingredient, amphetamine.
In 2010, she was caught importing eighty-two tablets of Adderall into Korea via international mail. At the time, prosecutors acknowledged her medical purpose and suspended the indictment.
Expressing her grievance, Bommai Park claimed, "Sandara Park was involved with drugs, and in order to cover it up, they turned me into a drug addict." She also directed criticism at her former agency, YG Entertainment, stating, "There wasn't even a relevant law in Korea at that time," and warned, "Don't falsely report to the authorities that I used more than the prescribed amount."
She added, "It feels as if my soul is crying, which is why I am writing this," but the post has since been deleted. Abyss Company, known as Sandara Park's agency, responded, "The contract has already ended, so it is difficult to verify the facts."
Bommai Park has suspended all activities since August of last year due to health reasons. At that time, her agency, D-Nation Entertainment, announced the decision was made in accordance with medical advice to rest.
