Yangju City Launches "Youth Challenge and Growth Projects"
Supporting Youth from Job Search Prevention to Social Reintegration
Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on March 3 that it has been selected as a final participating municipality for both the "Youth Challenge Support Project" and the "Youth Growth Project," which are overseen by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
On February 27, Yangju City held a signing ceremony at the Uijeongbu Employment and Labor Branch Office to officially launch these initiatives. Through this selection, the city secured a total of 228 million won in national funding (128 million won from the Youth Challenge Support Project and 100 million won from the Youth Growth Project).
Yangju City will link the two projects to operate a comprehensive support network that covers everything from "preventing youth from giving up on job searching" to "facilitating their reintegration into society."
▲ The Youth Growth Project (Prevention) provides counseling to job-seeking youth and young adults entering the workforce, addressing job-related stress and concerns about changing jobs. It also supports youth communities through "youth cafes," which are youth-friendly facilities, to prevent them from falling into a state of giving up on job searching. ▲ The Youth Challenge Support Project (Recovery) identifies young people who have already given up on seeking employment and provides tailored programs to help them reintegrate into society.
The city has also strengthened its management approach to enhance the professionalism of the projects. Yangju Youth Center, which has extensive experience running public projects and a team with professional qualifications, will directly manage the initiatives. In addition, New Teams Co., Ltd., a company with considerable know-how in youth support, will act as a partner, maximizing the synergistic effect.
Furthermore, the core hub of the projects, Yangju Youth Center, will relocate to a larger and more accessible space in April, allowing for expanded operations. In line with the expansion, the city plans to improve the quality of its programs and strengthen the function of the center as a "youth-centered space," where young people can always come to relax and communicate.
An official from Yangju City stated, "It is an important task to ensure that young people do not lose their motivation and can confidently enter society," adding, "By combining the city's professional workforce with private sector capabilities, we will support young people to take on challenges and grow together."
