Sportage Leads Sales
Seltos and K4 Follow
Kia announced on March 3 that it sold 247,401 units last month, a 2.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. Domestic sales dropped 8.7% to 42,002 units, while overseas sales fell 1.5% to 205,005 units.
By model, the Sportage was the best-selling vehicle globally with 47,081 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 24,305 units and the K4 with 18,434 units.
In the domestic market, the Sorento was the top-selling vehicle with 7,693 units sold. Among passenger cars, a total of 9,896 units were sold, including 3,241 units of the Ray, 2,175 units of the K5, and 1,384 units of the K8.
For recreational vehicles, 25,447 units were sold, including the Sorento, 3,800 units of the Sportage, 3,712 units of the Carnival, and 3,469 units of the EV3. In the commercial vehicle segment, 6,659 units were sold, including 3,967 units of the PV5 and 2,607 units of the Bongo III.
Electric vehicles recorded monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units for the first time ever, with 14,488 units sold-setting an all-time monthly sales record. The PV5 was the best-selling model, followed by the EV3 (3,469 units) and the EV5 (2,524 units).
Overseas, the Sportage was the top-selling model with 43,281 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 22,875 units and the K4 with 18,434 units.
For special-purpose vehicles, a total of 394 units were sold, including 64 units domestically and 330 units overseas.
A Kia official explained, "Due to the Lunar New Year holidays, the number of business days decreased compared to the same period last year, resulting in a temporary decline in domestic sales," adding, "We will work to improve sales by leveraging new models and eco-friendly vehicles such as the Seltos Hybrid, PV5, and EV5."
