On the afternoon of the 3rd, Kwang Lee, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Jeonnam Province, visited the construction site of Kumho Tire's Hampyeong Factory in Bitgreen Industrial Complex to discuss support measures. Provided by Kumho Tire
Kumho Tire and Jeonnam Province reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the smooth construction of Kumho Tire's Hampyeong plant.
On March 3, a site briefing was held at the construction site of the Hampyeong plant within the Bitgreen Industrial Complex, attended by Kiwon Kang, Vice Governor for Economy of Jeonnam Province; Sangik Lee, Mayor of Hampyeong County; Im Wanju, Head of Management Planning at Kumho Tire; and Hwang Hogil, Head of Safety, Production, and Innovation at Kumho Tire.
The attendees toured the Hampyeong plant site together and reviewed the current progress of the project. In particular, both sides focused on discussing more effective support measures.
Vice Governor Kang stated, "The construction of Kumho Tire's Hampyeong plant is a key project that will reshape the future industrial landscape of the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. We will mobilize all administrative resources to ensure that the new Hampyeong plant is completed without delay, revitalizes the local economy, and becomes a strategic hub for the future automotive industry in Gwangju and Jeonnam."
Im Wanju, Head of Management Planning, said, "With significant support from Jeonnam Province and Hampyeong County, the project is progressing smoothly. We request continued assistance, especially with permitting schedules, to ensure that the plant building proceeds according to the timeline set for the second half of this year."
Hwang Hogil, Head of Safety, Production, and Innovation, emphasized, "A portion of the Hampyeong plant will begin operations next year, and full-scale operations are scheduled for the first half of 2028. This facility will produce ultra-precision tires, marking the beginning of a major leap forward for Kumho Tire."
The first phase of the Kumho Tire Hampyeong plant is being constructed with a production capacity of 15,000 tires per day and 5.3 million tires per year. The target for full-scale operations is the first half of 2028.
