Publication Celebration for "Geumsan Byeolgok"
Over 1,000 Supporters Gather
On March 3, Beom-in Park, Mayor of Geumsan County, held a publication celebration for his book "Geumsan Byeolgok" on the second floor of the Fresh Ginseng Center, rallying supporters.
Approximately 1,000 people attended the event to offer their congratulations, including Bokman Kim, Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Assemblyman; Kiyun Kim, Chairman of the Geumsan County Council; Heesung Yang, President of the Geumsan County branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association; Taeyoung Lee, President of the Geumsan County Sports Association; Sangheon Park, President of the Geumsan County Social Organizations Federation; Jungdae Son, former Superintendent of the Geumsan Office of Education; and other supporters.
Mayor Park stated, "Since ancient times, Geumsan has been known as a beautiful region, a healthy region, a safe region, a region of loyalty, a region full of excitement, a delicious region, and a region of pure-hearted people," adding, "I hope you can renew your perception of how wonderful Geumsan truly is."
He continued, "In addition, thanks to ginseng farming and trading, the DNA of Geumsan people is defined by challenge, diligence, and an enterprising spirit. With determination, there is nothing we cannot achieve. Let us be proud to be people of Geumsan."
He emphasized, "Geumsan has the potential to become a region that shines not only in Korea but also on the global stage. I ask that you join your strength and wisdom so we can move toward a brighter future together."
Mayor Park explained, "'Geumsan Byeolgok' is a meaningful work that sings the praises of Geumsan's eight treasures, aiming to inform residents of Geumsan about the proud history and natural beauty of their home." He also boosted residents' pride by elaborating on the subtitle, "Beom-in Park's Eight Treasure Stories," through a detailed PPT presentation.
Mayor Park gently introduced the eight treasures, as if telling an old story: the beautiful Bidan Mountain, the scenic Bidan River, Geumsan Ginseng and Chubu Perilla Leaves as gifts from the heavens, the satellite ground station representing the safety of Geumsan, the noble spirit of patriotism and loyalty, unique and delightful folk culture, distinctive foods that are both tasty and healthy, and the pure-hearted local community.
Mayor Park remarked, "Our country is called Geumsugangsan, meaning land as beautiful as silk embroidery. Among the 157 cities and counties in Korea, Geumsan County is the only one with the character 'geum' (silk) in its name."
He continued, "With more than 3,200 mountain peaks and 178 rivers, Geumsan is the birthplace of Geumsugangsan, where the scenic Bidan River winds around the beautiful Bidan Mountain," expressing his pride in Geumsan.
He said, "Although the eight lights exist independently, they illuminate each other to become one great lantern. The mountain is the center, the river is the flow, ginseng is life, spirit sets the direction, the future is possibility, culture is memory, people are warmth, and food is abundance. These lights come together to brighten Geumsan today and shape its tomorrow. At the heart of these eight lights is Geumsan."
Mayor Park continued to express his pride in Geumsan.
He said, "Geumsan is home to the placenta chamber of King Taejo, a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree that stands as a witness to time, and spring water from Jinaksan Mountain that flows with legend. The scenery of the Geumgang cliffs and Chuibyeong Gorge unfolds like an oriental painting, while the wind blowing through the ginseng fields carries the scent of life."
He added, "But Geumsan's true beauty lies beyond the landscape: the pure hearts of people who have lived with trust, the warmth of a community that never lost its smile even in hardship, and the spirit of loyalty of those who devoted themselves to the nation-these are what give this land its depth." He emphasized the importance of living with pride as a resident of Geumsan County.
