Programs for 1,988 Students at 64 Schools
"University Takes Responsibility for Bridging the Digital Divide"
Sangmyung University Cheonan Campus has secured the largest project funding among the five universities selected for the “2026 University-Linked After-School AI·SW Specialized Program Support Project,” organized by the Chungnam Nonsan·Gyeryong, Gongju, and Boryeong Offices of Education.
According to the university on March 3, it will receive approximately 900 million won in support from the Offices of Education this year to operate AI·SW-based after-school programs for 1,988 students in 137 classes across 64 schools in the Chungnam region.
The university plans to strengthen students’ digital foundational skills and problem-solving abilities through practical and project-based classes tailored to the school environment and students’ developmental stages, rather than simple experiential programs.
Additionally, the university aims to ensure stability and quality in the program’s operation by utilizing its educational infrastructure and professional personnel, thereby reducing the operational burden on schools for after-school activities.
Furthermore, through the “RISE Neulbom Advancement Project,” the university expects to secure an additional 4.5 billion won in funding by February 2030.
The university intends to establish a comprehensive system that connects its after-school program experience with the advancement project, encompassing program development, instructor capacity building, on-site operation, and the dissemination of outcomes.
You Jaepil, Director of the Pre-learning Research Institute for Primary and Secondary Schools (Professor of Management Engineering), stated, “The university will mobilize all available resources to responsibly contribute to narrowing educational gaps in the Chungnam region.”
