ESG Initiative Celebrates 39th Anniversary
100 Million Won to Be Donated Upon Reaching 100 Million Steps
KB Kookmin Card announced on March 3 that, in celebration of its 39th anniversary, it will launch the “All You Need Campaign: Employee Hope Walking,” a program in which employees voluntarily participate to promote both sharing and environmental values.
This campaign is a social contribution program that collects the steps taken by employees in their daily lives and translates them into charitable donations. The funds raised will be used to deliver “gifts of hope” to children and adolescents from low-income and vulnerable groups.
The campaign, which began in 2023, has so far supported a total of 1,323 children and adolescents with hope gifts.
This year, the campaign’s target is 100 million steps. If this goal is achieved, a total of 100 million won will be provided through the Miral Welfare Foundation, a social welfare corporation, to support 555 children from vulnerable groups who use child welfare facilities across the country. The recipients will be selected after a review process based on the “stories of hope” submitted in advance by children and adolescents, and the gifts are planned to be delivered in time for Children’s Day.
The company explained that the campaign is being carried out with the voluntary participation of employees. It also highlighted that the campaign helps reduce the use of carbon-emitting modes of transportation such as cars by encouraging walking, making it an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiative that encompasses both environmental (E) and social (S) values. This is in line with the “inclusive finance” initiative currently being promoted by KB Financial Group.
A KB Kookmin Card representative stated, “The campaign is based on the belief that small steps can bring great hope to children,” adding, “We will continue to engage in activities that support children and adolescents from low-income and vulnerable groups, together with our employees, and will pursue sustainable ESG management that contributes to carbon reduction.”
