The global textile and fashion business exhibition "2026 Daegu International Textile Expo (Preview In Daegu, hereafter PID)", hosted by Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and organized by the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Textile Industry Association, will be held for three days from March 4 to March 6 at the West Hall of EXCO.
This year’s PID, under the slogan "RE:BOOT," signaling a new beginning for the textile industry, will feature a total of 264 companies and 438 booths, including 74 companies from six countries. The event will present the innovation and future vision of the regional textile industry, covering not only traditional textiles, but also eco-friendly and high-functional materials, high-tech advanced textiles, and AI fashion technology.
The opening ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on March 4 in Hall 1 of the West Hall of EXCO. Notable attendees will include Kim Jeonggi, Acting Mayor and Administrative Deputy Mayor of Daegu, Yang Geumhee, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Lee Mangyu, Chairman of Daegu Metropolitan Council, Park Yoonkyung, Chairman of Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and representatives from domestic textile-related organizations and associations.
As a special opening event, the "Meeting of Textiles and Fashion" exhibition will showcase the collaboration between local fabrics and fashion, presenting a model of coexistence between materials and finished products.
The exhibition hall will be organized into five thematic zones: the "Future Zone" for experiencing 2027 trends and AI fashion technology, the "Marketing Zone" focused on finished fashion products and home textiles, the "Digital Zone" featuring textile machinery and digital automation, the "Convergence Zone" for advanced convergent materials, and the "Textile Zone" centered on high-functional and eco-friendly materials.
Leading participating companies include "WONCHANG MATERIAL," which holds three major global certifications for eco-friendly fibers; "Youngone Corporation," the world’s top manufacturer of outdoor and sportswear; "Youngdo Velvet," the world’s number one woven velvet company; "ISPO Textrend," known as the Oscars of the textile industry; "Daehyun TFC," selected as one of the global top 10 innovative materials; "Sam-il Textile," Korea’s top company in flame-retardant fibers and specialty fabrics; "Deokwoo Industrial," the nation’s leader in ultra-lightweight thin fabric technology; and "CMA Global," a microfiber specialist that manufactures Gonryongpo goods for the National Museum of Korea. These sector-leading companies will all be present at the event.
In the joint exhibition hall, with participation from the Korea Textile Development Institute and DYTEC Institute, innovative technologies from regional companies expanding into future industries will be showcased. These include car reinforcement materials using super fiber aramid, fire suppression blankets for electric vehicle fires, thermal insulation covers for industrial robots, smart garments for healthcare, and protective clothing for defense and industrial use.
At the "AI Tech Zone," diverse experiential content will be available, such as AI-based personal color analysis, customized style suggestions, and photo shoots using AI robots. On the special stage within the exhibition, various attractions will be presented, including fashion collections co-created by local designers and textile companies, eco-fashion shows, and hanbok fashion shows.
In the conference hall within the exhibition venue, a series of seminars serving as future milestones for the textile and fashion industry will be held over the three days. It will start with a lecture by Kim Yookyum, CEO of Standard & Sustainability, on "Circular Economy and the Shift to Industrial Materials," followed by a session from Lee Eunhee, CEO of Trend in Korea, titled "The New Engine for K-Fashion: DX·AX in Fabric Sourcing."
This year, in particular, 106 global brand buyers from 19 countries-including Patagonia, Lululemon, Burberry, Timberland, and Descente-are expected to visit, raising expectations. They will not only participate in on-site consultations at the exhibition but also join the "Textile Production Area Inspection Program," where they will directly visit major local production sites. These activities are expected to generate tangible business outcomes, including the conclusion of export contracts.
Han Sangwoong, Chairman of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Textile Industry Association, stated, "Through the successful hosting of this year’s PID, we aim to create an opportunity for the textile and fashion industry in the region to take another leap forward."
Kim Jeonggi, Acting Mayor and Administrative Deputy Mayor of Daegu, commented, "Amidst the changing industrial paradigm toward artificial intelligence transformation and carbon neutrality, the textile and fashion industry is entering a new turning point. We will spare no effort to support the integration of advanced technologies with the strength of Daegu’s textile industry so it can become a future-oriented industry."
